2009 to 2011 - open source software development and consultancy

• Developed and distributed an innovative NGO ERP system (integrated M&E, financial and HR systems).
• Consulted and trained at different NGOs - covering M&E, Financial and HR.
• Increased understanding of a wide range of NGOs in South Africa.

2006 to 2011 - started and led church-strengthening project

• Funded by Comic Relief and then the E3 initiative.
• Recruited and led 3 pastoral staff in the training of pastors and church leaders, and building relationships between churches and local NGOs.
• Hundreds of pastors of all denominations have been trained in signficiant ministry-improving skills. Project is now continuing without my involvement.

2004 to 2008 - finance and admin director at large rural NGO

• Presided over growth in organisation from an annual budget of £100k to £1.5m.
• Instrumental in fundraising, management, system design and operations design.
• Responsible for managing sub-grantees to USAID audit standards.
• Capacitated local finance staff to successfully take over all functions.
• NGO is Ingwavuma Orphan Care

2001 to 2004: PriceWaterhouseCoopers

• Auditing of charities and government bodies.
• Specialised in computer audit and performance measurement consultancy.
• Managing teams at different clients to tight deadlines.
• Gained good knowledge of international accounting standards as well as finance department best practices
• Concurrently: Lay preaching at Anglican church. Also founded and ran a small charity funding work in Southern Africa. Handed over in 2004, and charity is still operating today with annual turnover of £100k (see http://fotchsa.org/)

Education

• Partially qualified as Chartered Public Finance Accountant (passed all exams, but left to work in Africa before qualification).
• Degree in Mathematics from University of Nottingham
• 4 A-levels
